Brazilian Perspective on Transcultural Leadership

This book presents Brazil as a high-potential country for transcultural cooperation. As the fifth biggest nation in the world, Brazil not only possesses an abundance of natural resources, but it is also characterized by a rich and multifaceted culture and a dynamic society and economy. Analysing the diversity and the opportunities for transcultural approaches within Brazil offers fascinating and instructive insights into the country itself, as well as into its role as a significant player in the globalized world. Having a long history of cooperation with other countries, Brazil serves as a bridge to the South American sub-continent, to businesses and other organizations from all over the globe. In the context of the political, societal and economic challenges and opportunites the country has been facing recently, many questions on Brazil's further development are not only attracting the attention of political and economic decision makers but will also influence the future of doing business in South America. Against this backdrop, the Transcultural Leadership Summit held in November 2018 at Zeppelin University assembled Brazilian and German experts from business, politics and civil society to engage in debate with practitioners, academics and students from all over the world. This book presents some of the major issues discussed at that conference, such as exploring how responsible leadership and urban development are practised in Brazil, sharing how innovation management is realized in the Brazilian context, as well as reflecting on the implications for university education and business practice. In this way, this volume aims at presenting different perspectives on transcultural leadership and cooperation in and with Brazil, and at offering success stories to learn about Brazil's role and potential in the context of globalization and global value creation.

Agile M&A: Proven Techniques to Close Deals Fas...

Corporate mergers and acquisitions (M&A) professionals - whether they work at banks, in corporate development groups, or integration teams - often complain that their industry is falling behind in modern process solutions. While M&A is becoming an increasingly accepted first-line growth strategy for companies around the world, and deal volume continues to set jaw-dropping new records quarter to quarter, the M&A industry itself has not adopted new innovations in technology or techniques since the late 1990s.It’s time to bring M&A into the 21st century. Agile M&A lays forth a new vision for completing M&A initiatives in the information age: the Agile M&A process model. Created by industry veteran Kison Patel, the model advocates applying the “agile” project management style, first popularized in Silicon Valley to the M&A industry. The agile approach to project management was originally developed to address workflow inefficiencies in the software development industry. This approach is based around universally applicable operational values such as speed, flexibility, cross-functional transparency, and teamwork - values which are perfectly suited to highly dynamic, informationally complex undertakings like M&A. As a project management style, Agile has proven to be uniquely suited to the modern globalized business landscape, which is defined by its unpredictability, instantaneous communication, and focus on rapid growth and innovation. The success of the Agile approach has led to its adoption throughout a variety of industries. In this book you will learn:What is the complete history of agile and its advantages over traditional, programmatic approaches to project management. How large tech firms like Google and Atlassian are already applying Agile techniques to their internal M&A functions. How to apply Agile strategies over the course of the entire M&A lifecycle, from the earliest stages of ana 1. Further in these key pressure areas of the Report have been discussed in detail as different chapters of this dissertation. As the world becomes more globalized and resources become more internationally mobile, the issue related to international taxation is moving to the forefront of debates surrounding national tax system. The process of globalization has led to increased competition among businesses in the global market place. International taxation generally refers to the tax treatment of cross-national transactions. Since each nation has its own tax rules and the rules of one nation are rarely perfectly meshed with those of another, it is possible that income will be taxed more than once which is sometimes referred to as double taxation or that it will go untaxed by any jurisdiction. To prevent this, usually countries adopt different methods. In principal, two methods of taxation are there i.e. the territorial (or source) system of taxation and the worldwide (or residence) system. Base Erosion and Profit Shifting by the multinational enterprises or by the individuals is one of the current problem by which the whole world suffering. To curb this problem Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has unveiled its report on Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) on 12 February, 2013. The Report has attempted to identify and tackle the global issue of tax base erosion, which in present time has achieved gigantic proportions. There is a growing perception that Governments across world lose substantial revenue due to tax avoidance because of planning aimed at eroding the tax the taxable base or shifting profits to favorable tax jurisdiction. Keeping cognizance of this situation, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) recommends a holistic and planned approach to address the problem of Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS).
